Welcome to
Portland, Oregon!

SCHEDULE:

VENUES:

FRIDAY - 8/26/16

@ 1PM - BRIDAL LUNCHEON/SHOWER
For ladies in the bridal party as well as mothers, grandmothers, sisters, daughters, and any female friends or family attending the festivities, we will be having a short and sweet luncheon at The Channel's Edge. They have a lovely little art gallery to peruse and beautiful views of the marina, river, and Mount Hood. We'll be out on the deck, so bring sunscreen and/or a hat! No presents necessary, just want to spend some extra time with the amazing women in my life. Amazing men in my life are welcome to crash the party :)

@ 3PM - REHEARSAL
For immediate family and those involved in the ceremony, a rehearsal will take place at Columbia Edgewater Country Club at 3pm on Friday. It should take no more than an hour. Shuttle service will be provided to and from the wedding venue for those staying at the Courtyard Marriott. Please contact me soon if you need assistance with transportation!

@ 7PM - DINNER
For immediate family and those involved in the ceremony, there will be a rehearsal dinner on Friday evening at Salty's on the Columbia. The dinner will take place at 7pm on Friday. There will be shuttle service provided for those staying at the Courtyard Marriott.

For those not involved in the ceremony or rehearsal dinner, we will be returning to the Courtyard Marriott, where the bar will remain open late for our enjoyment as we meet and greet all our wonderful guests from out of town. This should take place from about 9pm onward. Looking forward to seeing everyone!

SATURDAY - 8/27/16
***Note on attire:
suits, nice slacks with a collared shirt for the gentlemen, sun dresses or dress pants with a nice blouse for the ladies, all appropriate. I want you to be comfortable and ready to dance. It's a golf club and the wedding party will be in formal wear, but as far as I'm concerned if you avoid sweats and jeans, I'll be a happy bride!
@ 5PM - CEREMONY
The ceremony and reception will both be held at Columbia Edgewater Country Club on Saturday. The ceremony will begin at 5pm followed by
@ 6PM - COCKTAIL HOUR
@ 7PM - DINNER AND DANCING

We have a fun-packed evening planned that will go until 11pm at CECC.

There won't be a formal "getaway" moment. We'll just move over to the hotel around 11pm. We will have an after party at the Courtyard Marriott, where the staff has kindly agreed to keep the bar open until at least midnight for us after the wedding so we can continue the fun!

HOTEL  BLOCKS:

In order to offer our wonderfully unique guests a choice of location while in town for our wedding, we have two hotels through Marriott that will offer special rates to guests of the Hughes-Burns Wedding Group.  I will lay out what is included in the rate from each hotel below.

COURTYARD MARRIOTT PORTLAND NORTH HARBOUR

1250 N Anchor Way
Portland, OR  97217
For Booking: 503-445-9051                                                        Click here to book online.
                                                                         - If the link is down, please call the front desk: 503-735-1818
$159/night      King                                     - Also, if the type of room you'd like is not available through the link,
$159/night      Dbl/Dbl                                 the hotel may still be able to accommodate your request if you call.

The Courtyard Marriott has kindly arranged for the above rates to include a shuttle to and from PDX airport, to and from the wedding venue (Columbia Edgewater Country Club), free parking (should you choose to rent a car), and hot to-order breakfast. There is no extra charge beyond double occupancy, so if groups would like to room together, it can be a very thrifty route. The MAX Light Rail has a stop nearby, considered within walking distance for you New Yorkers, and within the hotel shuttle drop off zone for the rest of us! The MAX will take you downtown or an Uber to downtown from the hotel costs about $15. The hotel will be newly renovated just a couple months before our wedding including a new restaurant, bar, and Starbucks bistro. Patrick and I will be staying here, so if you want to be where the bride and groom are, this is the place!
RESIDENCE INN by MARRIOTT PORTLAND DOWNTOWN/RIVERPLACE
2115 SW River Parkway

Portland, OR  97201
For Booking: 503-552-9500                                                       Click here to book online.

$259/night      Studio/1 Bedroom Suite
$299/night      2 Bedroom Suite

The Residence Inn will include hot breakfast with this rate. I'd recommend booking a 2 Bedroom Suite with another couple. There is a shared lounging area and kitchen, but each bedroom has a door and its own bathroom. Again, no extra charge beyond double occupancy. If two couples share this, it's only $149.50 per couple at an excellent downtown hotel. Unfortunately, the rate does not include parking ($30/night) or a shuttle to/from the airport/venue. However, Uber is up and running in Portland, and I was able to get between the venue and the downtown location in an Uber cab for about $16 in twelve minutes. The Portland Street Car stops right outside the hotel, which connects to the MAX Light Rail, so this is another option. This location is near the south waterfront, the hippest up-and-coming area of downtown. Food trucks and carts are within walking distance as well as fantastic restaurants and beautiful waterfront park. If you'd like some distance from the "party" or just want to experience downtown proper, this is the place.

Nowhere is it written that you have to commit to just one hotel. There are no minimum stays required. So if you'd like to spend some time in one hotel and then the other, please do!  And don't feel limited by these hotels either. There is AirBnb as well as many other hotels in the area. Since August is such a popular time, I wanted to make sure that we had this as a jumping off point. If you have any questions or need some local advice, you all have our phone numbers. Just give us a call or send an email!

THINGS TO DO IN PORTLAND

Keep checking back as we get closer to the wedding date. My maid of honor, Ksenia Everton, and her husband, Zach, have kindly offered to post a link here to their blog chronicling all their many outdoor adventures.

Here are some of my favorite spots to visit:
Powell's Bookstore for ALL THE BOOKS -  www.powells.com/locations/powells-city-of-books
Cadillac Cafe for brunch - cadillaccafepdx.com
Cha Cha Cha for the best nachos (I like the one at 2635 NE Broadway) - www.chachachapdx.com
Papa Haydn for yummy dessert - www.papahaydn.com
Rimsky-Korsakoffee House, because coffee and the name - www.yelp.com/biz/rimsky-korsakoffee-house-portland

If groups would like to organize before or after the wedding ceremony and reception to hike, bike, sail, or just hang, this will be the place that I'll post that information.

I cannot wait to celebrate with each and every one of you. All my love, and welcome to my hometown of Portland, Oregon!
